Art itineraries in the Marche region
"Roman towns of art in the Marche region, between the hills and the sea"

To the tourist
Here are some suggestions to help you discover Cingoli, Ancona, Camerino, Numana, Osimo and Senigallia.
These routes will take you to towns of art in the Marche region, located both on the coast and in the hills.
Camerino, Cingoli and Osimo are important centres.
They have a very ancient history and numerous artistic and architectural beauties, with the typical structure of medieval villages, that were built on the top of hills for defence. Both these towns are suitable for summer holidays, since in that period of the year they enjoy a fresh and healthy climate. Moreover, they offer suitable accommodation for families and elderly people.
On the other hand, Senigallia, Numana and Ancona offer both the ancient and the modern: with ancient historically and artistically interesting ancient town centres and modern places where tourists can find the best modern facilities for a long seaside holiday.
Not to speak of the cuisine! At the seaside, just as inland, you can try wonderful traditional dishes based on typical local products, such as fresh fish, salami, cheeses, (wine and oil from town to town) and other first and second course specialities.
Moreover, Senigallia and Cingoli are the birthplaces of two important Popes: Pio VIII (Francesco Saverio Castiglioni, 1761-1830) was born in Cingoli, and Pio IX (Giovanni Oaria Mastai Ferretti, 1792-1878) in Senigallia.
These towns have a common origin: they were all founded by the Romans or were important Roman colonies.
All these places, thanks to their history, and artistic and cultural riches, have a common factor for the tourist so we have linked them together in these itineraries for you.
